Lego Carbon Racers: Rose Raider
You know, pink's been done with 1950s cars and the like for far too long. It's about time monster trucks got in on the action--and they do today with the Rose Raider!
Look at those triple claws on the hood. Like I keep saying, imagine what the original Lego Tiny Turbos line would look like today if the Cars brand hadn't snuffed them out.
You know what every monster truck needs? Monster taillights. So, there you go.
It spins!
I'd call this my main inspiration for the Rose Raider: the Lego Tiny Turbos set 8663, Fat Trax. This was one of the Tiny Turbos models I had back in the day, and it was a nice one.
In Step 1, you can see how the Rose Raider employs two different kinds of bar-pieces. It seems weird to me, but I have no regrets.
That addition in Step 3 is vital . . . I think. I don't know, maybe you can forget about it in your model. At least my suspension-like brick stacks in Step 4 kinda make sense.
I think I actually used five 2x1 pink bricks in Step 5 instead of the one 2x1 and one 2x4. Who cares? Not you. Moving on.
I don't have much to say about this part here. If is what it is.
The original Fat Trax had curved wheel arches, but this one doesn't. That makes it more similar to other monster trucks in the Tiny Turbos line, but there were so many of them that I'm not going to link them all here. Do your own research for once.
There's the triple claw! Really nails the monster truck look, doesn't it?
Notice how, in Step 13, those curved pieces will fit perfectly around the fat tires. It's these modern-day advantages that set the Carbon Racers apart from the Tiny Turbos.
I opted to use four 1x1 little slopes in Step 16 instead of two 1x2 slopes. It just looked like more of a monster-truck-esque spoiler to me.
Let's finish off the top with these steps . . .
. . . and add the wheels, and that's it!
Like the Rose Raider? You might want to check out the Maroon Mammoth, another Carbon Racer on this site. Then, don't forget to come back next time for another Carbon Racer, one that's a little more reminiscent of the Dark Grey Defender. See you then!
